Monopoly: Wellington Edition

Westpac Stadium has today been revealed as one of the properties on the new Wellington edition of the family favourite board game.

Monopoly: Wellington Edition showcases the capital city's iconic places, sites and landmarks.

This is the first time Monopoly has unveiled a property early in the eight-decade history of the game.

Said Westpac Stadium CEO Shane Harmon “Westpac Stadium is an iconic building on the Wellington landscape, visible from most vistas around the central city. As the heart of sport in the region, it is great that the venue features on the Wellington Monopoly board”.

Fans were given the opportunity to suggest their top properties to be included on the Wellington board, with Westpac Stadium being a popular choice.

The board game first hit the shelves in 1935, and today, it is played by 1 billion people in 144 countries, and comes in 47 different languages.

An Auckland version of Monopoly was launched in 2013. There is also a New Zealand edition.

The Wellington edition of the game was launched today at a special event on Oriental Parade. Copies can be purchased through major toy retail channels or online at www.facebook.com/WellingtonMonopoly
